What is a VCPR & why is it important?
So now why is it important? First of all it is required by law, in most states, to have on file because of FDA regulations and the state established Veterinary Practice Act; to check Minnesota's Veterinary Practice Act contact the state veterinary board. Secondly, it is the best way for you and your veterinarian to care for your animal or herd throughout it's lifetime; for example by keeping written medical records. It is also required by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) for the dispensing of prescription drugs or treatments. Below is Mille Lacs Veterinary Clinic's policy on VCPR's.
One can establish a VCPR for our large animal clients at regular visits and herd programs, or with a separate consultation set up on farm. Small animal patients need not worry, a valid VCPR is established during the pet's annual physical exam.
Our main goal is continued great care for your animals by continuing a good relationship with you.
